Out of our recipients’ increasing need for non-perishable items such as canned goods, rice, cereals, sugar, tea, coffee and oil, was born the idea of the“Yaddies Can Can Project”. We were fortunate to enlist most of the Jewish Nursery Schools in the Greater Johannesburg area to participate in collecting these items. This project runs for a period of one month during the year. Due to the proactive nature of this projects, the children are able to relate to the mitzvah of giving by personally contributing in making a difference to those less fortunate.
Our tinned foods initiative enabled us to realize one of our dreams, namely establishing a free mini “Supermarket” where our recipients can obtain “emergency supplies”.
We are fortunate enough at Shavous time to have number of schools and shuls collecting as their "bikkurim" non-perishable items which donate to their project.
A huge Yasher Koach to the Schools, parents and little neshomas who make it their business to invest the necessary effort required to make this a resounding success.
WITH YOUR ASSISTANCE, we aim to make this an on-going project at regular intervals in the year.
